The Middleton Railway sees itself as an important part of the community of South Leeds as it has been for the last 277 years. The Railway hosts Community Day every year to provide a platform for the different community based groups operating in South Leeds to promote themselves and what they offer the community and hopefully to recruit new members. It is also intended to provide a relaxed setting in which the different community groups can talk to each other, share experiences and possibly even develop opportunities to support each other to the betterment of the community. The Middleton Railway in this respect will be no different from the other community groups taking part in Community Day; we will have a stand aimed at promoting the Middleton Railway  and what it does and the opportunities it provides for volunteers and we will be talking to other groups to see if we can provide opportunities for them and vice versa.
Â
The event will feature of wide range of community groups covering elements of local life such as the history of the area, Middleton Park and the wildlife of the area, sporting activities for all ages and other community based activities together with groups focused on providing support for different constituents of the South Leeds  community including the elderly. It is also planned that representatives of the local emergency  services , Fire Service and Neighbour Hood Policing will be present for at least some of the day – duties permitting. As such there should be much to interest all visitors to Community Day and give them a better idea  of all that their community has to offer. The Middleton Railway looks forward to welcoming many many visitors and like the other participating groups showcasing what it offers.
